Susan Hodgkinson - General Psychologist
Susan combines her warmth and compassion to support to every client. With over 15 years of experience in the Disability, Community, and Child Protection sectors, she has worked across diverse settings, including community group home facilities. Whether you are currently experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, relational issues, or have a history of traumatic experiences, Susan collaborates with you to empower you to cultivate self-awareness and navigate challenging periods. She understands and values unique ways of being, neurodevelopmental conditions (e.g., ASD/ADHD) and traumatic brain injuries (TBI), affirming individual strengths.
Susan brings her strong experience in supporting adults, families, foster carers, and young people to live their best lives, work collaboratively, and thrive. Her therapeutic influences include postgraduate training in mindfulness practices with compassion-focused therapy, cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and psychodynamic approaches to therapy. Her focus enables exploration of the human condition, empowering her clients in their growth, to journey towards self-compassion and fulfilment.
Guided by her professional experiences and evidence-based practice, Susan cultivates a strengths-based and person-centred approach. She believes in upholding a safe place where you feel supported to enable your personal resources to facilitate connections with meaningful and fulfilling ways of life.
Susan is available for psychological assessments and experienced in reporting for various services, including WorkCover, Medicare providers, NDIS, and risk and legal assessments. Susan can provide comprehensive diagnostic cognitive and psychosocial assessments across the lifespan, thereby facilitating more fulfilling and supportive outcomes.
